Five trends in Muslim fashion

Islamic fashion has been gaining popularity among women and has become a global trend over the past ten years. There are several reasons for this.

 

Firstly, the growth in the number of believers. By order of the Almighty, a Muslim woman must wear modest clothing that covers the entire body except the face and hands. In addition, the cut of clothing should be loose.

Secondly, the formation of a new fashion trend, modest fashion, or “decent fashion,” has already gathered many fans around it. This trend does not depend on religion or nationality. Its main message is that your body is attractive, and you should not show it to everyone you meet. Therefore, long dresses and skirts and closed clothing are valued here.

Thirdly, this is a very profitable niche. The Muslim fashion market is projected to reach around $361 billion in 2023, according to Vice. Therefore, fashion houses decided to make collections for wealthy Muslim buyers. The first to release a special collection called “Ramadan” was the fashion brand DKNY. Then, over the past five years, such fashion houses as Mango, Zara, Nike, H&M, Dolce Gabbana, Carolina Herrera have been creating special collections for Muslim women.

Analysing fashion shows and stylist reviews, we can identify several trends that you can focus on when choosing your wardrobe. These are the areas that will not lose their relevance in the coming years.

  1. Natural fabrics. Linen, cotton, silk, knitwear. Clothes made from such fabrics will always look expensive and high quality.
  2. Fashionable shades. White, black, gray and shades of brown will never go out of fashion. You should combine these colours depending on your colour type. Clothes for Muslims include the colours that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) loved to wear. They are white and green. You can combine them if they suit you.
  3. A laconic image. This implies restraint in colour, a minimum of decoration and details. The main attention is paid to the cut of clothes, elegance and expressiveness of lines. Such images are very practical for both everyday and formal looks. Minimalism is something that greatly adorns a woman.
  4. National motifs. Recently, some brands have been decorating clothes with national patterns and ornaments. Some women prefer to wear certain ethnic clothing items. For example, a bib, national scarves, camisoles, etc. This certainly adds some flair to the look. But you should not get too carried away with it. One item with a national motif, such as a bag, scarf, vest, etc., will be enough.
  5. Oversized. These are loose-fitting clothes, which are sewn using a special technology, and visually look voluminous and baggy. In recent years, this style has attracted women and is leading confidently. Indeed, items of such clothing are very comfortable and versatile to wear. They are usually used as a base for the rest of the wardrobe. This includes abaya dresses, shirts, tunics, coats, sweatshirts. Thus, despite the trends, the main thing in wearing clothes is to remember with what intention you choose your wardrobe.
