How to get one’s children off the computers and smart phones?

Many parents get irritated when their children spend all their free time on smartphones and iPads. It seems that modern boys and girls are not interested in any entertainment except computer games, hanging out in front of the TV watching monotonous cartoons and looking at pictures on social networks.

In fact, regardless of generation, children always remain children. They want activities, communication, fun, often they just go along with the flow and spend their free time doing what they are used to. If one offers them an alternative, they will forget (at least for a while) about their phones and will happily play outdoors, complete unusual tasks and use their imagination. The main thing for us adults is to show them the right direction.

Playing in the yard

Let us remember our childhood. We were ready to spend all the holidays and weekends playing tag, hide-and-seek and feet-off-the-ground outside. These simple games are still well received by younger students, as are “Edible-Inedible”, “Potato” and “Bouncers”. The rules are very simple, but they are perfect for moving around in the fresh air with passion.

Quizzes

Do you want to improve your children’s erudition? What about creating an additional motivation for them so that they strive for knowledge and do not perceive school as hard labour? Invite them to participate in a quiz - a dynamic quiz. Several teams can participate in the game. The level of difficulty and theme depends on one’s desire and imagination. Tasks can be from the school curriculum or books, comics, cartoons and films.

Sports

Movement is what the younger generation needs for harmonious development. The main thing is to find the kind of sport that suits one’s children. For city dwellers, this will not be difficult. Team sports, martial arts, gymnastics, fitness, swimming – among all these options, there is sure to be one that will captivate one’s teenager. If one lives in a small village, then he should not expect such a large range of activities. But even in this case, do not despair. Perhaps one’s children will like cycling, roller skating, race walking or running. And if parents are ready to keep their daughters and sons company, then sports will serve as a bridge that will unite them even more. Equip a small sports ground for children in the yard or at home. Buy good video lessons so that children learn how to correctly perform certain exercises.

Rope Park

Most children love to climb trees and to overcome all sorts of obstacles and barriers. A rope park is a place where children will definitely forget about computers and phones. The routes come in different levels of difficulty and will make one’s teenager’s most extreme fantasies come true - riding a bike on a rope or feeling like Spider-Man climbing a sheer wall. All this is safe: the child is supported by a strong safety harness, and his movements are monitored by staff ready to help at any moment.
