Old tips on how to be beautiful

Old tips on how to be beautiful

Women have wanted to be attractive throughout the ages. It is worth looking at the photos of our grandmothers in their youth, and it becomes clear that they managed to shine with beauty without expensive cosmetics and beauty salon procedures.

Today we have prepared a real treasure for you - a selection of self-care secrets of the past centuries! Our beautiful great-grandmothers knew everything: how to take care of their skin, how to dress and how to behave in society. We can only marvel at their wisdom and memorise the following valuable worldly advice.

  1. Envy of youth and beauty ages any woman. And the absence of fear of age makes you younger. “Women’s Magazine”, March 1920.
  2. True beauty is within us. This is the love that lives in a woman. She blossoms like a flower, caring for others, communicating with people and trying to learn something new. “Soviet Woman”, November 1964.
  3. When applying makeup, the main thing is not to overdo it. Use little but carefully selected. “Soviet Screen”, August 1957.
  4. And now a very important, albeit simple rule: to keep your neck looking young and beautiful: always keep your head high. “Magazine for Women”, February 1923.
  5. We never tire of reminding you: apply a fat cream half an hour before going outside, especially in windy and cold weather, this way you protect your skin from damage and early aging. “Soviet Screen”, January 1967.
  6. What has the worst effect on a woman? Restlessness, infrequent baths, going to bed too late. “Rural Woman”, September 1954.
  7. Love your hands as much as your face; pity them. Remember, it is the hands that reveal the age of a woman and her status. Take care of them so that your hands say only good things about you. “Working Girl”, March 1970.

Ali ibn al-Husayn ibn Ali (Zayn al-‘Abidin)

“I have never seen a Quraysh better than Ali ibn al-Husayn.” (az-Zuhri).   In a special year, the final page in the history of the Persian kings was turned. Yazdegerd, the last Persian king, died homeless and persecuted. His generals, guards and members of his family were...

Family: The School of Humanity

Humanity’s life on planet Earth began with the family: Adam and Eve were the first. Their children gave birth to the human race and from those distant times to the present day, the family has become the foundation of society. It is within the home that the first moral compass is laid, and...

Water Wheels of Syria

I have a 1978 Syrian Republic banknote in my collection, worth one Syrian pound, depicting two enormous water wheels. The Aghlabid Dynasty

In 184 AH (Muslim calendar), Caliph Harun al-Rashid sent a new governor to the province of Ifriqiya (Africa). This vast province, which regularly disrupted the supply of goods and food to the capital of the Arab Caliphate, troubled the Caliph and required constant, heightened attention. A...

Escape from silence

Why when we alone, we immediately reach for our phones, turn on a series, or other stuff, or do anything to avoid encountering our own thoughts? What are we so afraid of hearing in that silence, and how can we learn to bear it in order to finally hear our true selves?   This is not just a...
