KORAN ABOUT BIRDS AND INSECTS

Birds are like humans

A new research confirmed that birds take a nap to be alert for any potential danger exactly like any businessman who works for long time and takes a nap to continue work. Researchers at the Max Planck Institute for Ornithology say that birds are like humans in this regard. They also say that a bird’s brain emits electromagnetic waves like humans: here we have to remember what the Almighty Allah says about birds (meaning), “There is not a moving (living) creature on earth, nor a bird that flies with its two wings, but are communities like you. We have neglected nothing in the Book, then unto their Lord they (all) shall be gathered.” (Sura Al-An’am, ayah 38).

Design of Birds

Scientists confirm that the design of birds’ wings is amazing and puzzling, as it is completely wrapped with flexible feathers that are capable of adjusting to all kinds of flying conditions as are the tail, legs, beak, and head. Every part of the body of birds is miraculous technically in every sense of the word. What is more amazing, however, is how birds manage to rise suddenly upwards from the sea and then manoeuvre, move and fly for a long time. Glory be to Almighty Allah who says (meaning), “Seest thou not that it is Allah Whose praises all beings in the heavens and on earth do celebrate, and the birds (of the air) with wings outspread? Each one knows its own (mode of) prayer and praise. And Allah knows well all that they do.” (Sura An-Nur, ayah 41).

Birds spreading out their wings

Scientists have observed birds for many years and found that they use very complicated techniques to fly, coordinating their two wings and estimating distances to achieve successful landing and takeoff.

They have also found that, in order to fly, birds have to spread and fold their wings and all of the above are preprogrammed in the brain of birds as they have not been taught how to fly!

Scientists also assure us that without birds, man could not know how to fly in the sky. Glory be to Allah who says about birds (meaning), “Do they not see the birds above them, spreading out their wings and folding them in? None upholds them except the Most Beneficent (Allah). Verily, He is the All-Seer of everything.” (Sura Al-Mulk, ayah 19).

Here we have to remind people that the Almighty Allah tells us that birds are alike to us by saying (meaning), “There is not a moving (living) creature on earth, nor a bird that flies with its two wings, but are communities like you.” (Sura Al-An’am, ayah 38). He also says about birds (meaning): “See you not (O Muhammad) that Allah, He it is Whom glorify for whatsoever is in the heavens and the earth, and the birds with wings out-spread (in their flight). Of each one He (Allah) knows indeed his Salat (prayer) and his glorification, [or everyone knows his Salat (prayer) and his glorification], and Allah is All-Aware of what they do.” (Sura AnNur, ayah 41).

Colours of the butterfly

There are many complicated operations in nature, which prove that these creatures did not come by coincidence but according to a planned programme by the power of the Great Creator.

Scientists say that the formation of colours in the wings of the butterfly is a very complicated operation that is managed by accurate rules of physics. The butterflies use these colours as a defense method to make its appearance the same as the surrounding nature. Scientists are wondering who makes these creatures able to embody such complicated techniques? The answer came from Almighty Allah, who says (meaning), “This is the creation of Allah. So show Me that which those (whom you worship), besides Him have created. Nay, the Zalimun (polytheists, wrongdoers and those who do not believe in the Oneness of Allah) are in plain error.” (Sura Luqman, ayah 11).

The Fly

Scientists have found that the structure of the fly is very complicated and it employs complicated techniques in flying and in its way of life. Therefore, they now confess that they could not imitate the fly in its flying characteristics in spite of the amazing technological development that they have reached in the west nowadays.

Scientists say that they still do not know much about this strange creature. And they confess that they have not been able to create even a single cell! Allah, be he exalted, says (meaning), “O mankind! A similitude has been coined, so listen to it (carefully): Verily those on whom you call besides Allah, cannot create (even) a fly, even though they combine together for the purpose. And if the fly snatches away a thing from them, they will have no power to release it from the fly. So weak are (both) the seeker and the sought).” (Sura Al-Hajj, ayah 73).

This verse indicates the miraculous nature of the Koran, as nobody up till now could create a fly!

The Intelligence of Bees

According to a recent study, scientists have found that the nectar of most flowers accumulates during the morning. The study also states that bees are smarter at distinguishing smells during the early hours of the day than the rest of the day. Such a feature helps bees collect the nectar and efficiently produce honey. Scientists wonder how bees know that there is more nectar in the morning so as to be more efficient by working during that time. Is not Allah who guides and inspires bees and says of them in the Holy Koran (meaning), “Then to eat of all the produce (of the earth), and find with skill the spacious paths of its Lord: there issues from within their bodies a drink of varying colours, wherein is healing for men: verily in this is a Sign for those who give thought.” (Sura Nahl, ayah 69).
