How to become beautiful?

How to become beautiful?

In the modern world, standards of beauty are becoming more and more intrusive.

Social networks, advertising and the fashion industry create idealizsd images that make many people feel dissatisfied with themselves. Filters, retouching, the desire to fit in - all this pushes a person to focus exclusively on appearance, forgetting about the spiritual and moral component of their personality.

Faith in the Almighty Lord offers us a different approach to life: harmony of the external and internal world. True beauty, according to doctrine, lies in the perfection of character. Even the most beautiful person, devoid of good morals, loses the divine light (nur) that the Creator gives to His righteous slaves.

The Messenger of God ﷺ instructed us that beauty should be in everything: in our appearance and in our actions. One of the hadiths says, “On the Day of Judgment, there will be nothing heavier on the scales of a believer than good behavior, and, verily, Allah ﷻ hates one who utters obscene and bad words.” (Narrated by At-Tirmidhi).

The saying of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ also says: “Verily, Allah ﷻ is beautiful, and He loves beauty…” (Narrated by Muslim).

Beauty as a gift from the Almighty

All aspects of beauty in this world - from the grandeur of nature to human attractiveness - are the creation of the Almighty. We see beauty because the Lord has endowed us with the ability to perceive it. However, we should not forget that true beauty is the one that connects the external with the internal.

External attractiveness requires care and concern. Faith in the Creator encourages cleanliness, neatness and aesthetics. Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself was an example of grooming, cleanliness and a pleasant appearance. But without internal work on oneself, external beauty loses its meaning. Improving one’s character, purifying the soul and sincere actions are what make a person truly beautiful before God and in the eyes of others.

Today, many people face the pressure of social networks that dictate standards of ideal appearance. Young people, especially girls, may feel an internal conflict between the desire for fashion and religious values. It is important to remember: for Allah ﷻ, the most beautiful beauty is that which is accompanied by piety, modesty and sincerity.

Practical steps to true beauty

To achieve harmony between the external and internal sides, it is important not only to take care of one’s body, but also to pay attention to the spiritual and moral component. Here are some steps that will help strengthen this connection.

  1. Take care of yourself

Islam encourages cleanliness and neatness. Pay attention to hygiene, dress tastefully and modestly. Remember that external attractiveness is a form of gratitude to Allah ﷻ for the appearance given to you.

  1. Improve your character

Every day, try to analyse your actions, words and intentions. The Prophet ﷺ said, “The most perfect believer is the one who has the best character…” (Narrated by At-Tirmidhi).

  1. Do not succumb to the influence of standards

Remember that the ideals of beauty imposed by society are often ephemeral and artificial. The Creator made each of us unique and our value is measured not by appearance but by the sincerity of the heart and the righteousness of deeds.

  1. Surround yourself with beautiful and useful things

Islam teaches us to take care of our surroundings. Houses should be clean, relationships with people should be friendly, and thoughts should be clear. The beauty created by the Almighty is always around us, if we know how to see it.

Reading prayers and spiritual purification

The habit of turning to God with sincere prayers helps to achieve inner peace and harmony. Here are three prayers that are especially important for the improvement of the soul and body.

The first prayer is given in the Holy Koran (the meaning of the commentary): “Our Lord! Give us light [illuminating the path of Truth] in full and forgive us [for our sins]. Indeed, You are the Mighty, You can do everything.” (Sura At-Tahrim, ayah 8).

The second prayer is from a saying of the Messenger of God ﷺ. From Abdullah ibn Mas‘ud it is transmitted that the Prophet ﷺ said, “O Allah ﷻ, make my character beautiful just as You have made my appearance beautiful.” (Narrated by Ahmad).

The third supplication is also taken from a hadith of the Prophet ﷺ. It is narrated from Zayd ibn Arqam that the Messenger of God ﷺ said, “O Allah ﷻ, grant my soul piety and purify it, [for] You are the best of those who purify it, You are its Protector and Master.” (Narrated by Muslim, Ahmad).

While taking care of your appearance, do not forget to work on your soul. Only the one who purifies his intentions, develops good behavior and strives to please the Creator will find divine light that will illuminate his life and make him an example for others.

Let each of us find a way to this harmony, so that our beauty not only pleases the eyes of people, but also pleases the One Who created everything beautiful! Amen!
