Stop letting Instagram to prevent you from loving yourself

Stop letting Instagram to prevent you from loving yourself

Social networks, without which the majority of people on the planet cannot imagine their lives today, were created to unite humans.

However, in fact, they are very often the main source of psychological barriers. They prevent us from adequately evaluating ourselves and destroy us from the inside. Well-groomed, bright, filtered Instagram divas often make us hate our own bodies. This is especially dangerous for teenagers, whose psyche is extremely mobile, and self-esteem is unstable. Many of us fall into a real dependence on the opinions of subscribers; they count every ‘like’ and wait with trepidation for comments under a new photo or video.

According to a survey of 1,500 users carried out by the charity fund “Scope”, more than half of women aged 18-34 say social media make them feel unattractive. A recent study found that a large percentage of the content posted on Instagram is related to the issue of an eating behavior. Most posts advertise and promote unapproved appetite suppression products, as well as describing extreme diets and other unhealthy eating behaviors. But the problem lies not only in this.

After all, even posts that at first glance do no harm can be destructive for us. For example, bloggers’ stories about what they eat during the day. It looks like they feed themselves with sunlight and lettuce. Watching the life of our favorite Instagram heroes, we involuntarily begin to copy them, listen to the advice of people who are not nutritionists and have no idea how our body works. Many of us, especially teenagers, take retouched photos of bloggers at face value, believing that this is the ideal to strive for.

How to learn not to succumb to the influence of Instagram?

After all, it is unlikely that it will be possible to simply delete it from your life. To begin with, psychologists offer to analyze: who we are subscribed to, what influence certain popular personalities have on us. Unsubscribe from everyone whose content does not bring you any benefit, but only drives you into complexes.

Limit yourself in the use of gadgets. Set yourself a time frame and just turn off Wi-Fi in the apartment when the time is up.

Remind yourself that virtual reality is far from real life. Social networks are a world of falsehood and filters, where everyone tries to gain popularity by hiding their shortcomings, showing themselves in the most advantageous light. Therefore, it is completely pointless to equal it.
