The Importance of Performing Namaz

This world is a place of trials. These tests consist of obeying the Almighty Creator; that is, doing what He commands and avoiding what He forbids. There are many such commands and prohibitions and compliance with some of these commands does not remove the obligation to fulfill others.

In numerous verses of the Koran, Almighty Allah commands people to perform namaz, which indicates its importance, and He did not make an exception for anyone in this. So all people must obey the order of God ﷻ and perform namaz.

Disobeying God by not performing namaz is already a grave sin. Therefore, the words of justification of some people, “I do not commit sins,” have no weight.

The Prophet ﷺ said, “Whoever deliberately does not perform at least one prayer will meet the Almighty angry with him.” (Narrated by At-Tabarani).

Another saying of the Messenger of God ﷺ says, “There is no sin worse after polytheism than delaying prayer.” (Narrated by At-Tabarani).

If people who do not commit other sins and do not harm anyone were permitted not to perform namaz, then the Messenger of God ﷺ and his righteous companions would be the first in this, but they, on the contrary, were those who were most diligent in performing namaz and were afraid to miss it.
