Family: The School of Humanity
Humanity’s life on planet Earth began with the family: Adam and Eve were the first.
Their children gave birth to the human race and from those distant times to the present day, the family has become the foundation of society. It is within the home that the first moral compass is laid, and character, conscience and worldview are formed.
A child learns to speak, think and empathise, and they absorb all of this from those around them: parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters. The family is the first school of kindness, patience, responsibility and respect for others., It is difficult to raise an individual capable of building harmonious relationships in society without a healthy family environment.
The religious concept of family
Family occupies a central place in all world religions. In Islam, for example, family is viewed as a gift from the Creator and one of the greatest blessings of earthly life. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “The best of you is the one who treats his family best, and I am the best of you in my treatment of my family.” (Narrated by At-Tirmidhi).
Family in Islam is not simply a union of two people but a divine institution in which future generations of believers, guardians of morality and justice, are raised.
Family and society: an inseparable link
A strong society is impossible without strong families. It is within the family that civic responsibility, patriotism, respect for the law, culture and traditions are formed. When families disintegrate, not only the family’s inner world suffers, but the entire social fabric: crime rates, social isolation, stress and various disorders rise. Conversely, stable, loving families form a strong society capable of withstanding difficulties and trials.
In a world where technology is rapidly changing lifestyles and connections between people are increasingly becoming virtual, it is especially important to cherish what remains constant: love, trust, support and family unity. After all, the family is the invisible foundation upon which the entire human family rests. Caring for the family means caring for the future of the planet.
Every family has its problems. How can they be resolved?
Each family is a separate universe, with its own unique world and culture of relationships. The key is to learn to respect and value each other. The warmth of each family, like a separate puzzle piece, shapes the overall picture of society.
In a context where the institution of the family is under serious attack, it is important to consolidate the efforts of government bodies and civil society institutions to preserve traditional spiritual and moral values, in which the family occupies a key place.
