The best prayer for troubles and misfortunes

Troubles and misfortunes befall each of us along the path of life. Both happy moments and periods of difficulty are sent down by the Almighty Creator, all things are in His power. Therefore, to be rid of disasters, one should turn to the Lord of the worlds. A sincere prayer in compliance with all ethical standards (adabs) will not go unanswered.

Let us list these adabs that facilitate the acceptance of prayer (dua):

1) manifestation of sincerity towards God; 2) vigorousness in dua and firm conviction in its acceptance; 3) persistence in dua and reluctance to rush things; 4) reading dua with humility; 5) reading dua in both joy and sorrow; 6) reading dua out loud, but not loudly; 7) not asking in dua for harm to someone or something; 8) sincere repentance for sins; 9) recognition of the blessings that the Lord has endowed us with and expression of praise and gratitude to Him for them; 10) return of all debts and repentance for them; 11) reading the dua three times; 12) turn your gaze towards the qibla during dua; 13) raising hands in dua; 14) first asking for dua for yourself and only then for others; 15) ask God through His most beautiful names, epithets or through good deeds; 16) clothes, food and drink of the person reading the dua must be obtained through permitted means; 17) do not ask in dua for the forbidden (haram) or for the breaking of family ties; 18) in dua, do not cross the boundaries of what is permitted (for example, do not ask God to make you a prophet); 19) do good and protect others from evil and forbidden things; 20) removal from everything forbidden.

What prayer (dua) is recommended to be read to protect yourself from misfortunes? From the Sunna of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) many prayers (duas) on this topic have come down to us. We present to our readers one of them, which covers many disasters that befall man.

From Anas (may God be pleased with him) it is reported that the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) addressed the Lord with the following prayer (dua):

Meaning, “O Allah! Verily, I resort to You for protection from powerlessness, laziness, cowardice, greed, decrepitude, cruelty, distraction (absent-mindedness), and from being dependent on someone, from deviation and from being needy. And I resort to You for protection from poverty, unbelief, wickedness, misfortune, hypocrisy and showing off. And I take refuge in You from deafness, dumbness, madness, leprosy, corruption and the worst of diseases.”
