Trust cannot be betrayed

Trust cannot be betrayed

The meaning of the word “amanat” in translation from Arabic has several meanings: “honesty”, “loyalty”, “reliability”, “pledge”, “fidelity”, “heritage” and even “secretariat”.

In Muslim theological and legal terminology, “amanat” means something (usually a thing) given for safekeeping. In most cases, keeping amanat is a gratuitous transaction in which two factors are important: the trust of the giver and the responsibility of the custodian. Each of us can play one or the other role.

Amanats of the Almighty Creator

The Creator has entrusted us with many amanats, which we must very carefully keep and return to Him safe and sound upon first request.

  1. Soul

Each person is born with a pure and innocent soul. Its existence begins at the moment of birth and lasts endlessly, rushing into eternity. Our goal is to live according to the laws of the Creator, honestly and righteously, striving to preserve the purity of our souls until the end of our lives.

The Almighty Creator swears by the human soul and the One Who created it in the Koran. Then He reports that he who purified his soul from the filth of sins succeeded and was saved but he who humiliated his soul with disbelief and sins and led it to destruction suffered a loss.

  1. Body

This amazing mechanism with finely tuned functions and reactions is the receptacle of the human soul. The task of each of us is to treat our physical body with care, without causing it harm and preserving its original appearance. This means giving up everything that can cause it pain, injury, tattoos, plastic surgery and other modern modifications.

  1. Family

These are the people closest to us. In any family, people face trials in which they must show patience, mercy, forgiveness and other good qualities. After all, family is always work. However, this does not change our goal: we must build family life according to the laws of the Lord, responding to His call to take care of ourselves and our family.

Amanats of the Prophet ﷺ

  1. Islam

The Messenger of God ﷺ honorably fulfilled the mission entrusted to him by the Almighty. He spread the true religion among people. Leaving this world, he left us this priceless legacy. Our task is to preserve the purity of true knowledge, protect it from distortion, strengthen our faith daily and pass on the spirit and light of Islam to our descendants.

  1. Koran

The Holy Koran is a miracle sent down by the Almighty to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, and it will be kept until the end of the world for the edification of people. This is a promise given by Allah ﷻ. The Messenger of God ﷺ, being himself a “living Koran”, explained it to his followers and bequeathed to us to live according to its precepts.

We are obliged to carefully preserve the Holy Scripture, which is the speech of the Almighty Creator, delve into its deep meanings, build our lives in accordance with it and, most importantly, educate new generations, bringing to their understanding that without Divine Scripture in the soul, a person is weak and unhappy.

Amanats of people

  1. Property

People trust each other with their property for different reasons and for different periods: some - money, some - goods, some - real estate, and so on. The duty of the custodian is to ensure proper care of this property so that it remains in good condition.

If, due to the fault of the custodian, someone else’s property is damaged, he must compensate the owner for the damage upon return. Or the parties can agree on another way to resolve the problem.

  1. Secrets

This is the most valuable thing that a person trusts to another. First of all, this is information that a person trusts only to you in order to get your advice or share his experiences. Secrets can be related to situations that you accidentally witnessed, and not heard from someone.

Nowadays, this is often information that a person sent via messenger personally to a person or to a certain group, but contrary to common sense, information that is amanat becomes public property. Information voiced in a narrow circle is distributed throughout the Internet. Moreover, such a conversation is often recorded for subsequent publication on the Internet. This is a clear violation of amanat.

Amanat also occupies an important place in married life. Even if you are not warned against disclosing secrets concerning intra-family and marital relations, it is unworthy to talk about it. It is necessary to keep not only fidelity to each other but also each other’s secrets. It is especially important not to disclose secrets of an intimate nature.

It is reported from Abu Said al-Khudri that the Messenger of God ﷺ said: “Indeed, one of the greatest violations of trust on the Day of Resurrection will be the story of a man who had intimacy with his wife, and she with him, and then spread [this information] to others.” (Narrated by Muslim).
