Dagestan Mufti Sheikh Ahmad-Afandi congratulates the believers of the country on the holy feast of Eid al-Adha - Kurban Bayram

With the name of Allah, the Most Gracious and the Most Merciful!

Dear brothers and sisters! I congratulate all of you on one of the most important holidays of Islam Eid al Adha!

Every year Muslims around the world look forward to this sacred celebration, which unites believers, encourages us to mutual assistance and makes our hearts fill with mercy.

The holy feast of Eid al Adha Kurban Bayram marks the end of the Hajj, the pilgrimage to Holy Mecca. Unfortunately, this year, Muslims both in our country and all over the world, due to the outbreak of the pandemic, could not travel to the sacred lands. But we all know that with every hardship comes relief, and therefore we patiently wait for the moment when, by the grace of the Creator, we can return to our usual way of life.

The Feast of Sacrifice is an integral part of the rich spiritual and cultural heritage of our multinational people. Eid al Adha, symbolizing the triumph of spirit and moral purity, embodies the noble ideals of Islam religious tolerance, love for one’s neighbor and care and mercy for everyone. This holiday teaches us to honour our elders, help those in need, take care of our neighbours and bring up children in a spirit of goodness and piety. We endlessly thank and praise Allah for the opportunity given to contemplate these blessed days again.

On this sacred holiday I ask the Creator to accept our sacrifice (Kurban), and I also wish everyone health, happiness and well being in their families and prosperity and success in all good endeavours. May Almighty Allah accept our prayers and grant us blessings and mercy in both worlds.

I pray to the Almighty for all Muslims in the world and ask for peace and prosperity for our country. May Allah save us from diseases, troubles and calamities.

SHEIKH AHMAD-AFANDI ABDULAEV MUFTI OF DAGESTAN REPUBLIC
