Five good news for those fasting in the month of Ramadan

Five good news for those fasting in the month of Ramadan

The arrival of the month of Ramadan is a great joy for believers. True Muslims praise the Almighty for granting them mercy and allowing them to celebrate another Ramadan.

A hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) says, “When the month of Ramadan comes, the gates of Heaven open, the gates of Hell close and the devils are bound.” (Narrated by Al-Bukhari and Muslim).

Another hadith says, “Whoever fasts during the month of Ramadan with faith and hope will have his sins forgiven.” (Narrated by Al-Bukhari and Muslim).

The righteous have always asked Almighty Allah to grant them the happiness of experiencing another month of Ramadan. After the end of Ramadan, they asked the Almighty to accept their worship performed in Ramadan for six months. For the remaining time they asked the Almighty to allow them to live until next Ramadan.

After all, fasting, especially the obligatory fast of Ramadan, is a highly rewarding act for a believer. For observing the fast, the Almighty prepared a special reward for his slaves.

In the famous hadith, Al-Qudsi, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) conveys the words of the Almighty, “The reward for every good deed of a person (son of Adam) increases at least ten times and can reach seven hundred times. Almighty Allah said, “Accept the reward for fasting, for, verily, it is observed for Me, and I will reward for it (a person fasts only for My sake).” (Narrated by Ibn Majah).

In addition, Almighty Allah has granted our Ummah many joys and benefits that everyone who fasts, does not commit serious sins and does not deny the mercy of God deserves in the month of Ramadan.

Abu Hurayrah (may God be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “My Ummah was granted five blessings in the month of Ramadan that were not granted to previous communities:

  1. the smell from the mouth of a fasting person, which is more pleasant to God than the fragrance of musk;
  2. the angels pray for forgiveness for them until the breaking of the fast;
  3. every day God decorates His Paradise and says, “The time is near when My righteous servants will throw off the burden of burdens and worries and rush to you”;
  4. rebellious devils are put in chains and cannot do what they do at other times;
  5. those who fast are granted forgiveness on the last night of the month.”

People asked, “O Messenger of God, is this the night of decree (Lailatul Qadr)?” He replied, “No, it is just that the worker receives his reward in full when he completes the work he started.” (Narrated by Imam Ahmad).

In the version cited by Bayhaki, it is reported that the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned fish instead of angels and said, “Pisces pray for forgiveness for them until the breaking of the fast.”

As you can see, in the month of Ramadan, Almighty Allah grants those who fast who are from the Ummah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) many benefits that were not given to the communities of other prophets and messengers (peace be upon them).

To deserve these benefits, we must sincerely repent and celebrate the month of Ramadan with a pure heart. Also in Ramadan, we must fast and abstain from everything forbidden and reprehensible, as the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) indicated to us.

Almighty Allah does not accept the fast of one who does not distance himself from false conversations and actions. Therefore, a fasting person needs to protect all his organs from forbidden things, just as he protects his stomach and genitals.

The fast of one who lies, blasphemes, gossips, makes false oaths, looks at women with lustful eyes and commits similar bad deeds will not be complete and he will not receive full reward for it.

Naturally, such a person does not receive the benefits of the Almighty, which are mentioned in the above hadiths. Thus, he misses a great opportunity and leads himself to destruction.
