Gourd treats overweight

Nutrition physicians say that water in gourds is about 95% and it contains many minerals, little sugar, fibre, lot of potassium and some sodium. Thus, they confirm that gourds are suitable for losing weight and for high blood pressure patients. Many scientists also confirm that gourds may treat cancer and headaches.

The following hadith is narrated by ’Ishaq bin ‘Abdullah bin Abu Talha who said, “I heard Anas bin Malik saying, ‘A tailor invited Allah’s prophet to a meal which he had prepared.’ Anas bin Malik said, ‘I accompanied Allah’s prophet to that meal. He served the Prophet with bread and soup made with gourd and dried meat. I saw the Prophet taking the pieces of gourd from the dish.’ Anas added that, ‘since that day I have continued to like gourd.’”

Eating too much meat

Researchers say that eating too much red meat increases the possibility of contracting cancer. They, therefore, recommend that eating only a small amount of it to be healthy. Scientists confirm that the world consumption of meat is about 283 million tons annually. They add that producing one kilo of meat requires 40,000 litres of water (to water the grass that is eaten by the livestock). Not eating too much meat also helps preserve the environment from pollution and global warming that result from the gas naturally released by livestock. Scientists, therefore, warn against eating too much meat. It might be surprising that the Holy Koran has preceded scientists in such warning; Allah, the exalted says in the Holy Koran (meaning), “O Children of Adam! wear your beautiful apparel at every time and place of prayer: eat and drink but waste not by excess, for God loveth not the wasters.” (Sura Al-A’raf, ayah 31).

Mothers & Smoking

According to a recent study, scientists have asserted that the fetus of smoking mothers is negatively affected and that such impact lasts until the child grows up and inclines to accept this bad habit of smoking and tends to smoke later. It is well known, medically speaking, that the smoking of expectant mothers has a negative impact on the fetus and causes a range of damage. Even when mothers smoke while being close to their children, their children are impacted by the smoke and may become smokers when they grow up. Of course, this does not apply to all children, but to the overwhelming majority.

According to another study that was conducted at the University of Bristol, it has been found that smoking and alcohol are worse than illegal drugs. Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was therefore merciful to us when he taught us that we should not harm ourselves for he said, “There should be neither harming nor reciprocating harm.” Allah, the exalted, also wants to do us good when he says in the Holy Koran (meaning), “And spend of your substance in the cause of Allah and make not your own hands contribute to (your) destruction but do good - for Allah loveth those who do good.” (Sura Al-Baqara, ayah 195).

Health of heart

Recent studies have confirmed that tension, pressure and anger are considered to be destructive factors for human health and may cause many dangerous diseases like cancer. The best means of treatment is to forgive people. Almighty Allah says (meaning), “But whoever forgives and makes reconciliation, his reward is due from Allah. Truly, He likes not the Zalimun (oppressors, polytheists, and wrong-doers, etc.).” (Sura Ash-Shura, ayah 40).

Hopelessness

A new study confirmed that there are 30 million depressed American and that the reason behind this phenomenon is hopelessness. We have to admit that the Muslim is far from depression and hopelessness, as Almighty Allah says (meaning), “Certainly no one despairs of Allah’s mercy, except people who disbelieve.” (Sura Yusuf, ayah 87).

The destroying effects of watching porno films

All studies confirm that watching pornographic scenes badly affects a person’s health and his or her psychological and social condition. It may lead to divorce, depression and psychological tension. Almighty Allah says (meaning): “Tell the believing men to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things), and protect their private parts (from illegal sexual acts, etc.). That is purer for them. Truly, Allah is all-aware of what they do.” (Sura An-Nur, ayah 30).
