How to choose the perfect bag?

How to choose the perfect bag?

Many women have a weakness for bags.

This accessory lifts our spirits, completes our look and makes us feel at ease. Sometimes we buy a bag that seems incredibly stylish but we hardly ever use it. To avoid this, you need to avoid impulse purchases and choose an accessory that will be a real addition to your wardrobe.

Today, we will learn which bags are always in style and select the most versatile models for all occasions.

Stylists advise against neglecting the classics and instead focus on timeless bags. These are simple leather models in black, navy blue, gray and brown. They are suitable for any season and pair with clothes of various styles. Shades of beige can also fit into any wardrobe; it is best to choose muted ones without yellow or pink undertones. Stylists advise thinking carefully before buying a bag in acidic shades. Such a bag requires careful selection of clothing. Otherwise, it can look ostentatious and out of place.

Pure white bags are a potential problem. They look great in fashion photos. However, in everyday life, they quickly become unsightly: a few trips to the store or a trip on public transportation can instantly ruin the accessory’s polish and neatness.

Should you focus on the “colour of the year”? For example, according to Pantone, shades of ultraviolet, complex brown, or peach are trendy in 2025. Perhaps, they are but remember that fashion is ever-changing.

“Trendy shades are good if they fit seamlessly into your personal style. But if you want versatility, it is better to choose a calm, classic look”, notes stylist Marina Toropova, who specializes in leather goods.

Remember that a bag should make your outfit choices easier, not more complicated. When buying one, consider practicality. Do you work in an office or go for daily walks with your children? Do you spend a lot of time outdoors or do you travel by car?

So, depending on your outfit, you can choose your bag’s colour. For casual looks: khaki, gray and beige. For business attire: black, navy blue, dark brown and graphite. For evening looks, deep, rich colors like emerald, burgundy and sapphire are perfect. And if you want to attract more attention, you can complement your evening outfit with a gold or silver handbag. If you plan to use your bag for several years, avoid overly loud colors like orange, fuchsia or acid green.

To keep your leather bag looking like new, protect it from moisture by treating it with a water-repellent treatment. Never wash your bag in washing machine. Leather bags do not like rain or snow. If your accessory gets wet in the rain, stuff the bag with paper or another absorbent material (this will reduce the bag’s deformation) and then let it dry at room temperature. It is not recommended to carry heavy objects in your bag, as it may stretch and lose its appearance, developing cracks or creases.

If the bag’s lining gets dirty, turn it inside out and wash it carefully, being careful not to get it wet. Store your bag in a special sack, being careful not to bend the handles.
