Inspire Righteousness

Inspire Righteousness

“Scarcity of material wealth will give birth to spiritual and mental power; ordeals feed pride; misfortunes serve as healthy food for a noble character.” (Victor Hugo, Les Miserables)

People who inspire righteousness; people whose lives are filled with kindness and love for the Almighty God, for the world and for others; people who call to the straight path, first of all by their actions, which are more eloquent than the most beautiful words; people in whose purity of heart others see, as though in a mirror, a rejection of their own vices. How to become one of them? Is it possible to do so?

All life on this earth is a test. The more hardships a person experiences, the greater his reward. But what does “reward for tests” mean?

From Anas (may God be pleased with him) it is transmitted that the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Verily, with greater rewards come greater trials. Verily, when Allah loves a people he will test them. Whoever is pleased will be satisfied, and whoever is displeased will be indignant.” (Narrated by At-Tirmidhi).

Almighty God in sending difficulties, by His mercy gives us the greatest of blessings - the ability to show patience and to remain calm. This is inherent in all of us. If there were no troubles, sorrows, illnesses, problems or difficult situations in this world, a person would not be able to know goodness, would not know what compassion and empathy for each other is, would not learn to appreciate the blessings bestowed on him by the Creator, as well as not being able to feel a sense of sincere gratitude for them.

It is impossible to live in this world without feeling its hardships at all. This is because difficulties are one of the predestinations of the Almighty. To endure them imperturbably, to overcome them with dignity means to show obedience to the Creator and to express a desire for His contentment and mercy. In revealing all his virtues on the path of trials, a person is ever spiritually changing and acquires inner strength and moral purity. In so doing he inspires righteousness.
