Taking care of cats

Taking care of cats

A cute white cat with a pink nose immediately attracts the attention of everyone, even if a person is not fond of animals. You will surely agree that it is hard to pass by a cat and not touch it. Therefore, let us share some information about these fluffy pets.

They cannot stand the heat

A cat, particularly an alley cat, is very easy to feed. One evening we took some chicken fried with onions out to the cats in the yard. It seemed that thr cats would eat only chicken, leaving the onion there. But the next morning we found no onion or chicken in the bowl. They ate everything. In summer cats go out at night, during the day they are rarely be seen; the heat is simply unbearable for the animals. In hot weather, cats need to be in a cool (but not cold) place. And at night they usually go out and look for food.

Feed them no trash

Once a gray cat was lying right at the entrance to the front door. It was there for several days never responding to the people who stepped him over trying to enter their house. The residents used to feed the cat from time to time. Maybe that is why he lay down at their very entrance. The whole yard knew the gray cat and people always played with it.

But in this case, most of them were just complaining that a poor cat was dying and did nothing. Except one woman who took mercy on the gray cat and a day later took it to the vet. It turned out that the poor animal was poisoned by something. It was given some injections, lost a lot of weight, but survived. The cause of the poisoning was the same human indifference. People often think that cats eat anything. Apparently, they took out something rotten to the cat and the poor animal ate it out of hunger.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) on love for cats

Once one of the companions said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), “He takes dirty cats and keeps them in his house.” This was said about Abu Hurayrah (may God be pleased with him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent and said nothing in response. One day he met Abu Hurayrah (may God be pleased with him) in the street. Abu Hurayrah found a kitten in the alley, but fearing that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would reprimand him, he immediately hid it under his clothes.

The Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, “What have you hidden under your clothes?” Abu Hurayrah (may God be pleased with him) showed him the kitten. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took it and stroked it and said, “O Abu Hurayrah, do not be ashamed, rather be proud! You are the father of cats.” Since then, Abdurrahman bin Sahr has become better known as Abu Hurayrah (father of cats) (Narrated by Al-Bukhari).

I do not owe them anything; let the others feed the cats

The cats that walk around us need our care. They do not need comments like, “Oh, do not worry, these cute kittens are always fed by our neighbors.” Please, note that compassion and humane treatment of animals without owners is the duty of every human being. Therefore, we should feed and try to save the poor animals from bad weather conditions. However, there are those who will take it on themselves to close the basement entrances of apartment buildings, so that animals cannot hide there from rain, wind and snow.

The companions once asked: “O Messenger of God, is there a reward (from the Almighty) for a good attitude towards animals?” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, “There is a reward for every good attitude towards a living being.” (Narrated by Al-Bukhari). Does your neighbor, who feeds the animals and provides them with help, need this reward more than you?
