Why should we love the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ ?

Why should we love the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ ?

Why should we love the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ ?

A wise person who has come to know our beloved Prophet ﷺ cannot love anyone more than him, except for Allah Most High. The Prophet ﷺ deserves the greatest and most sincere love and respect after the Lord. Usually, people love someone for some benefit received from him, for the joy and happiness that he brings to the people. How necessary it is to love our Prophet ﷺ, who was sent as a mercy for all worlds and who opened the way for all mankind from ignorance and darkness to science and light! With his wise, kind instructions and wonderful examples, for 1400 years he has been educating mankind and every century he leads hundreds of millions of people from poverty to wealth, from fear to security, from violence to order and justice.

And how many people has he freed from worshiping useless idols and has taught to worship the one and Almighty Creator - Allah! How many people has he brought up and taught respectful attitude of the younger to the elder, children to their parents - mutual respect in the family! He protected millions of families from destruction, taught people to maintain good relations between neighbors, friends, colleagues, freed millions of orphans from the trap of need, freed women from loneliness and the bitter fate of widows, freed people from the net of such vices as theft, adultery, violence, murder, drunkenness and bribery. He has cleansed the hearts of millions of people from phenomena harmful to both individuals and to society as a whole such as pride, arrogance, envy, hostility, greed, sycophancy, anger, hypocrisy, snitching, cheating, slander and many other diseases of the soul. Is there another person who deserves more love than our holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ?!

All this is the grace of the Prophet ﷺ in this world. And in the Hereafter, as reliable hadith testify, on the Day of Judgment, when all people will experience unbearable hardships, when even the greatest prophets and messengers will be concerned about their position, will forget about the communities of their followers, even angels will be in great fear and people, having forgotten about their relatives, will think only about personal salvation - on this day, all people will resort to the help of their beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and only he will ask Allah for their mercy, will intercede for them and bring them relief. His intercession (shafaat) will help even the unbelievers in the area of ‘Arasat and in Hell, i.e., from time to time their torment will be eased (see “Ithaf”. Vol. 2. P. 62).

That is why the Almighty says in the Koran, addressing the Prophet ﷺ (meaning), “I have not sent you except as a mercy for the worlds.” (Sura al-Anbiya, ayah 107).

Who, after Allah, can be more worthy and deserving of our love, except for the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, whom the Creator sent to us as a mercy for all the worlds?

People love a person who has great talent and good character. Our Prophet ﷺ in courage and generosity, in the perfection of his mind and scientific knowledge, mercy and compassion, kindness and patience, knowledge of politics and determination, in trust and intelligence, in energy and strength, in honesty and eloquence, in beauty and harmony, in wisdom, clarity and usefulness of speech and in many other wonderful character traits rose to a height to which no one of the people, jinn or angels rose either before or after him.

An ordinary, simple person who possesses at least some of the above-mentioned wonderful character traits becomes popular and beloved among the people and the people exalt him. The Prophet ﷺ possessed all these wonderful traits, and there was no one else in the world who could rise to such a height even in just one of these qualities.

If someone possesses one of these listed traits, this dignity remains with him. The beautiful morals of the Messenger of God ﷺ were passed on from him to his companions (Sahaba), from them to their followers (Tabe’en), then to subsequent generations and over the course of 1400 years they have spread throughout the world. Every century, millions of people acquire them, purify their hearts with them, are cured of internal diseases with their help and instill these traits in others. These beautiful morals remain on earth as an eternal example for all generations of humanity. Think again, dear readers, is there a person in the world whom we should love more than the Prophet ﷺ!

People also love someone if he is valued, honoured and praised by the people. In this regard, there is not a single person who deserves our love more than our beloved Prophet ﷺ. This is because our beloved Prophet ﷺ is exalted and praised by Almighty Allah Himself, His angels, His prophets, all believers and jinn. The Creator exalted him more than all humanity and He loves him more than all His creations.

Almighty Allah, exalting him, says (meaning), “We have exalted your mention.” (Sura Ash-Sharh, ayah 4).

This is why Muslims pronounce the name of their beloved Prophet ﷺ every day in prayers, in the call to prayer (adhan), in the Friday sermon (khutba), instructions, dua, when writing books, professing shahada (testimony of faith), etc. It can be said that not a second goes by in the world when the name of our beloved Prophet ﷺ is not pronounced.

And in the next world, he will have such a high level that he will be praised by people, angels and jinn - everyone who lived before him and after him. This is stated in the Koran (meaning), “Almighty Allah will raise you to such a high level that the whole world will praise you.” (Sura Al-Isra, ayah 79).

Allah the Most High has given him this high position in both worlds. Praising him, Almighty Allah the Almighty says (meaning), “Indeed, you (O Muhammad!) have a great character.” (Sura Al-Qalam, ayah 4). That is, the best morals are inherent and subordinate to him. Even if all of humanity and the whole world will praise him from the moment of creation until the Day of Judgement, even then this will be a drop in the ocean compared to the praise of the Most High Allah.

People also love someone if he is loved by Almighty Allah and his people. In this regard, there is no one in the world who should be loved more than the Prophet ﷺ. This is because in both worlds, in the heavens and on the earth, there is no person more beloved to Almighty Allah, His angels, believers and jinn than the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

Almighty Allah showed all creation His love for our Prophet ﷺ by gifting him with the Miraj, showing him special hospitality and giving him the name Habibullah, which means Beloved of Allah.

That is why the Prophet ﷺ himself said (meaning), “Love Allah, for He feeds and bestows His blessings upon you. Love me, because Allah loves me, love my family members, because I love them.” (Narrated by Imam at-Tirmidhi).
